Kansas City was an exciting place to be this past Sunday for the Chief’s first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years! In fact, the energy of the city has been overwhelming throughout the playoffs. This team has been rewarding to watch and for once we didn’t have to endure the heartbreak of years past, although there were moments like the first half of the Texans game that had everyone in the metro a little stressed. Nevertheless, the Lombardi trophy has been secured and KC is preparing to celebrate even more than we already have!
Super Bowl Sunday always brings increased revenue for sports bars, but this season has provided an upturn in the nightlife scene here in Kansas City. After every win, the momentum built and the enthusiasm took hold of Kansas Citians throughout the city. With this elation comes the urge to commemorate that particular event with likeminded individuals thus filling KC bars and clubs with fans seeking a safe place with a positive atmosphere.
News coverage has shown us the enormous amount of people that filled our entertainment districts like Westport and Power & Light. Those same areas are prepping for another round of celebrations during and following the parade that will no doubt overtake the city. Bar and club owners have been bracing their staff and upping their liquor orders with every victory to ensure their establishments can handle the influx of fans while city workers are putting in overtime to handle the crowds.
The Chiefs parade is projected to be an even larger event than the estimated half a million people that attended the Royals World Series parade in 2015. That experience has resonated with many and this will be no different. Luckily, that day was one of peaceful jubilation and it is the hope that Kansas City will have yet another smooth day of merriment to celebrate this Super Bowl win.
It is said that the Midwest is a friendly place with a welcome environment. Let’s show the world what true winners look like while supporting our Chiefs and local establishments. Remember that while you are toasting drinks at the bar/club, the person serving you is earning their living. Be cognizant of the fact that the city is overflowing with people hoping to revel in this experience and make positive memories that will last a lifetime. Be patient. Be kind. But most importantly, act like the world class champions we are!
UpDown Nightlife will be honoring Chiefs Kingdom with a post parade celebration at Shot Stop. Many of our followers were there with us when we won the AFC championship and again when we took home the W in Miami! Let’s run it back one more time together. Doors open at noon.
